Doing something new is always risky. It is difficult to validate the value of doing something new with computer technology especially in a farming and mainly physical, face-to-face business. Owner, Steve Butler, and Operations Manager, Austin Butler, with Green Country Farms came to me for a simple website that would help their customers find their phone number. They basically needed a cyber phone book presence! They also wanted to be linked to the Oklahoma State University Agriculture Department directory. It is a reputable source and could point future customers to their poultry litter business. This new site not only gave them the two functions they asked for, but brought new customers that have the potential to be the biggest customers they have had to date. This makes me smile! I was able to provide a simple website with a few pages that look great, function well, represent their core values and did not require such a financial sacrifice. They came to me in August. The website went up fast and now, in 5 short months, they are getting calls from new customers—customers who like to shop and look at a company before calling for more information. Austin Butler said, “We have new customers that tell us they found us on the web. They have either searched chicken litter terms and found us or have gone to the OSU directory, found us and contacted us because we were one of very few companies with websites. They liked that the site looked very professional and trustworthy. The website has already paid for itself. It is surprising how much it has helped gain new customers. We have made back what we have invested and look forward to what the year has in store.” Visit the Green Country Poultry Litter site. I upgraded their logo as part of the page design and used photos Austin had taken of their beautiful farm. Nothing flashy, nothing shouting at you or blinking for you to buy or click! Just that easy to find phone number and a way to drop a note. Client training is included in my pricing. They plan to add informational pieces to their site that customers can use in figuring current pricing by weather and chemical conditions of the soil. They are able to manage their own internet presence and I will be there to back them up if they just get too busy to do it themselves! They are off to a great new year with something to crow about!
